Summer’s Bounty

If you live near a farmer’s market… I urge you to check it out. You won’t be dissapointed!

I am fortunate enough to have a good friend who’s parents have a farm. They grace our farmer’s market weekly with beautiful vegetables and delicious homemade breads, relishes and jams. They are precious and their food is wonderful.

I was lucky enough to purchase an entire box of Purple Hull peas today. (15 pounds if you are wondering. ) I have been shelling until my fingers are sore. Luckily, I have two little helpers. 🙂 I also picked up some green beans and fresh corn to go along with it. I had okra from my parents garden. It made a delicious supper. I can’t wait to eat the leftovers tomorrow!

Thank you all for your well wishes in regards to my last post. I am still feeling frustrated with the limitations of my body. I am not accustomed to feeling so weak but I am confident that God is with me in this trial and I will recover. I am lucky to have an appointment with a specialist next week and I am pumping my body up with lots of supplements and what exercise I can manage. I have always been very against using bug sprays but my opinion has been reformulated. I am an OFF lover now and urge you all to use it if you are going to be outside in warmer weather. Shoot… I’d use Frontline now if it were safe for humans… just so I never, ever get sick like this again!

  1. Sweet friend, sorry to hear you are still feeling badly. I pray that God will give you total restoration – and soon!

  2. Since you haven’t felt very good this summer, you are due for a fantastic fall!!!! I hope you feel better SOON!!!

  3. Hey girlie, I picked up some purple hull peas today. Any recipes you want to share? GB said to just steam them with some salt and their delicious. Did you see that she has all organic veggies at the Farmer’s Mkt now? She also has free rangeeggs and frozen processed chicken as well. Her chickens are happy, too, I have seen them and they are living it up just as chickens ought to. I got the peas and a chicken today, last week it was okra..I absolutely LOVE okra.
